Best part about being on tour?
Playing the shows, and my crew. My band and my crew are my best friends. We sold out every show on this tour. That’s our first time selling out venues of this size. It felt epic. It’s cool to meet that many fans. It was the best feeling ever.
Worst part about being on tour?
Not enough dogs! It’s sad – and I don’t even have a dog! You’re so sleep-deprived that whenever I see a dog on tour, I get really hyped. Lack of dogs, and not being able to sleep as much as I’d like are the worst parts. But I’ll sleep when I’m dead.
How do you physically prepare for a show?
I took a lot of inspiration from Mazzy Star and Hope Sandoval for this tour. She’s also an LA native like myself. So I did a lot of moodboarding for what I wanted my look to be – black, drapey, asymmetrical stuff. As far as a routine goes, it’s usually so chaotic, we never take a minute to connect; we just sort of get thrown up on stage. But sweet treats really bring us together – and we all bring a suitcase of outfits that we share, and do our makeup together in the green room.

What are your green room makeup must-haves?
I try to wear natural stuff and I’ve been really into Exa Beauty’s ten18 Lash Amplifying Mascara. It’s volumising, not just elongating, which is good for me because my lashes are kind of long already. I use an Hourglass concealer, and then - oh my gosh - my lip liner is NARS! I love it so much. It’s down to the nub, so you can’t read anything on it, but I think it’s called Morocco. One new addition I’ve been using on tour to add a glittery thing is Stila’s Glisten & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Waterfall. Those are my main things, and maybe some NARS blush and, of course, a lot of black eyeliner. This Maybelline eyeliner pot I got from CVS while touring has kind of become my main thing. And then my bottom liner is Chanel.
Is CVS your regular beauty haunt?
I am actually a longtime lover of Larchmont Beauty. It’s run by the same guy that’s been running it since the 1980s. It’s a great LA staple. That’s where I get most of my makeup… when I’m not going to CVS.
How do you mentally prepare for a show?
I really love to listen to Britney Spears. It puts me in the mood before – and after. I’ve been really connecting with her spiritually lately. It’s been a theme for this tour, actually. We’ll listen to ‘Break the Ice,’ then we’ll take a shot of tequila.
What kind of tequila?
We like Casamigos.

What is the one non-negotiable thing on your rider?
Cigarettes. American Spirit Blues. And a joint.
Favourite place to play?
I love hometown shows [in Los Angeles]. They’re always a little scary because our friends and family come out. I’ll put on my best shows in the middle of nowhere, but hometown shows make me nervous in a good way. That’s where I care the most. I love The Greek. We played there once when we opened for Local Natives. Hopefully, some day, we’ll be headlining.
How do you wind down post-show?
We started doing this new thing where we stay the night in the town we just played instead of leaving right away. So we get to enjoy all of these cities late-night, all together. I had such a good time in Minneapolis. The vibes in that city are just really good. But sometimes we just end up going back to the Airbnb to eat gummy bears and watch Kitchen Nightmares.
Do you sleep in your eyeliner?
Sometimes! And then I’ll reward myself by washing my face in the morning. It is the most rejuvenating thing. I use Neutorgena makeup remover wipes, and then I have an Aveeno brightening scrub I got at Walmart. I’m at the age for an eye cream, so I’ve been getting into that, too.

Eye cream reccs?
I have the Energizing and Smoothing Eye Cream from Caudalie. I think it might actually be working.
Best travel hack for long stretches on the road?
Get the razors with the soap on there. One less thing you need to carry! And bring Uggs. I don't care that I’m giving 2007 Kesha. They’re so comfortable.
