What’s your name?

Clams Baker III.

Where are you from?

Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

What do you do?

Shout at people to an extraordinary soundtrack.

Describe your music in five words.

4am folk songs for everyone.

What’s the greatest gig you’ve ever played?

The Park Stage in the sunshine at Glastonbury 2022, live on the BBC after an all-nighter at Shangri-La.

What’s your favourite food?

Entitled indie band kids.

Do you have a backstage ritual?

Nope.

What’s your favourite music magazine?

BEAT, of course!

What’s the best thing a fan has given you?

A sculpture of fashion week by the artist, Daniel J Lane. Look him up!

Who’s your number one crush?

Sha’Carri Richardson.

And your number two?

Steve Albini.

What’s the last text you sent?

To the Witherer, telling him to wake up. True story.

What do you always have in your bag?

Nail clippers and chewing gum.

How many glasses of water do you drink a day?

Four.

If you could time-travel to any gig, what would it be?

That James Brown gig where Prince and Michael Jackson joined him on stage.

It’s been a Brat summer, but what kind of winter will we have?

A Douscher one, of course.

What’s your favourite piece of trivia?

According to legend, if the ravens ever leave the Tower of London, the kingdom will fall. To prevent this, at least six ravens are kept at the Tower at all times, and they even have a dedicated caretaker known as the Ravenmaster.

What are two of your favourite albums?
Big Black’s Songs About Fucking and James Brown’s Greatest Hits.

When can we next see you live, and what have you got coming up in 2025?

We’re about to embark on a UK and European tour from Oct 29 to November 29, ending at the Troxy in London. Then there’s a North American tour in February.

Is social media as important as everyone makes out?

I guess it depends on what you’re using it for. I think it’s made a lot of people’s lives amazing and awful. But I love it, and without it, I think it would be a lot harder to survive as a band. Where else can you watch obese people falling down hills at festivals, or all those wonderful Vic Berger edits? Good stuff.

What question should we add to this list?

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
